My Bucket List
So I never had a bucket list until a few years ago as well, I thought they’re a bit cliché. I knew there were some things I’ve always wanted to do, skydive, whitewater rafting but didn’t ever have the notarised.
Then I went backpacking and did so many crazy things that I thought, right now it’s time to see what else I wanted to do.
So here are some of the awesome things I hope to do in the future (suggestions also welcomed!):
- Hot Air Balloon Ride
- Go to an airport and just buy a ticket to somewhere that wasn’t planned
- Go to a big football match abroad
- The Inca Trail
Do a bungee jump(did the Nevis 134 metre one in Queenstown, New Zealand)Do a skydive(did two 15,000ft jumps in Taupo, New Zealand)Sing karaoke in Tokyo(yup, until 5am in the Shibuya district)Learn to SCUBA dive(did my PADI Open Water in Koh Tao, Thailand, then my Advanced in El Nido,Philippines)- Been to one of the big carnivals in Brazil, Mexico etc
- Work abroad
- Hitchhike
- Found a beach, and thought “this will do for the next week”
- Shark cage diving in South Africa
Fly in a helicopter(Done in Franz Josef, New Zealand)- Hang glide, ideally over Rio, Brazil
- Visit the Grand Canyon
- Learn to surf
- Sleep in an igloo for the night
Go whitewater rafting(did twice in New Zealand)- Go on an African Safari
Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge(done!)- Touch an iceberg
- Learn a language (probably Spanish)
- Run a marathon (only done a half marathon so far)
- Bike “Death Road” in Bolivia
- Learn to ski/snowboard
- Have a go at fire walking
- Go on a cruise
Parasailed(scary times due to no health and safety on the Greek island I did it on!)- See the Northern Lights
Go skinny dipping(Done in Fiji, scraped my ass on the coral!)- Fly in First Class via upgrade or air miles
Swim with dolphins in the wild(Done in Kaikoura, New Zealand)
Nice list. Some interesting things you might want to add:
-scuba dive with sharks (after you get your licence of course, Thailand is the cheapest play with the best underwater sights to do that)
-go to the Mud Festival in South Korea (in July)
-swim with whale sharks (but make sure it’s not a tourist trap where they don’t respect the sharks)
-couchsurf and go to meet ups in various cities around the world (maybe this doesn’t belong on a bucket list… but it’s a good way to travel and meet amazing people around the world and cut back on your spending)
-deep sea fishing
-visit a rainforest
-climb a really tall mountain
-see the sun rise from the farthest eastern part of Japan
-stand on the equator
-go cliff diving
-drive from the east coast to the west coast of Canada (preferably on a motorbike)
-go to a pow wow
-learn a style of dance (salsa is a good one)
Hmmm. I am sure I have more things in my mind, but I am too tired to think of them. Pick and choose if you like any and have an awesome trip!
Wow, great list and thanks for giving me even more ideas! Yeah I was looking to do my PADI in Thailand, then I’d love to do some scuba diving in the Philippines as I’ve heard it’s incredible!
Cliff diving I think I’d hate. I’ve always been scared of heights!
Thanks once again!
The PADI and this beach will do for a week will prob tie in together. I did mine at the Black bay (or something that had the word black in it) in Koh Tao – when you hit KT from the mainland just make sure you go to the other side of the island. It was super chilled and stunning. Only about 10 people there all week. Great dives too. (This was 8years ago…but sure its sill beautiful and gets you away from the busy tourist bits). X
Thanks Ash! Had a great time in Koh Tao and now a certified diver. Yes it’s still a great place and can’t wait now to dive all over the world. You recommend anywhere else to dive? X
